The Capuchin Friars are grateful of all the support and prayers offered for their work. You can get involved in a range of ways, from helping us to serve the poor to becoming a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. If you are able, we would also be very grateful for your financial assistance. Your generosity ensures the security and welfare of the Capuchin order, now and in the future.

Capuchin Missionary Association

An association called Opus Sancti Fidelis Sigmaringenensis was formed in 1899 by Frieda Folger, a Swiss member of the Third Order of Saint Francis in Lucerne. It supports the missionary work of the Capuchins worldwide by people asking for friends and family, living and dead, to be enrolled in the Association and giving an offering for its main purpose. In return the friars promise to keep them in their prayers and to offer Masses regularly for them.

The Association is now run by the Capuchin Franciscan General Curia in Rome and is now called The Capuchin Missionary Association. The National Director in this country can be contacted through the Provincial Curia.

A suggested donation of £10 for each enrolment is requested. All donations fund our ministries in missions around the world.

Enrolments which are Gifts of Love for Life, are offerings given in honour of a loved one to support the ministries of Capuchin friars in the missions.

A certificate or card is not needed to enrol a person, but you can request them. If you would like to do so, please send us the name of the person(s) you wish to enrol and whether the person is living or deceased. You can also purchase certificates or cards to keep on hand. They will be sent to you without obligation, with the understanding that you will send in the name(s) of those you later wish to enrol along with your contribution.

You can remember the Capuchin Franciscan friars in your will. This can be done in the following ways:

  • A residuary bequest – You can leave the balance of your estate after your other legacies have been honoured.

  • A pecuniary bequest – You can leave a specific sum to the Capuchin Franciscans.

  • A specific request – You can leave an item of value to the Capuchin Franciscans. This might be a painting, jewellery or even a house.

  • A reversionary bequest – You can leave an item for the use of a surviving friend or relative who then leave it to the nominated charity or third party.

Donating to our worldwide missions

Our Capuchin missionaries are supported by the generosity of benefactors in the UK. You can support this work in two primary ways:

  • Mission alms or donations, often accompanied by prayer requests – please contact the Provincial office.

  • Enrolling yourself, a loved-one or a deceased relative or friend in the Capuchin Missionary Association (see above).
